Discussing BIG IDEA and CREATIVE IDEA

Today we met to discuss our BIG and CREATIVE ideas. We got to thinking about what donation motto's we could go by for example, 'They get what you give', 'Waste not, want not', 'Giving is the new receiving' and 'They get what you give'. We thought of lots of ideas, but really needed to focus on what our main aim was. We felt that our overall aim was around giving something back, so we came up with MAKE SPACE. We thought that with people making space in their own wardrobes, they were thereby filling the lives of others.

So, our BIG idea is MAKE SPACE FOR TRAID.

Then we thought about how this could be done. We thought of several ideas that we could do for our CREATIVE idea, for example a student tour which would include touring around universities nationally raising awareness of TRAID or even setting up stalls at festivals that could collect and even mend unwanted clothes. We did question how successful this would be, and also how costly, so we came up with something students could do by themselves. We discussed Rag Week, and how we could incorporate something like this into an event for TRAID. We decided on TRAID RAID which would be a sponsored race that raised clothes for TRAID instead of money. This could include world record, and leader boards, or even publicity for the biggest donator of the month. We really like this idea and think it was one of our most successful so far, but obviously still needs developing.

When considering an online and offline integrated campaign we considered how we could create an App for TRAID. We thought that the App could allow you to count your clothes in your wardrobe and give you an evaluation, even facts and figures about your fashion consumption, and perhaps even reminders to donate an item of clothing each week. This type of interaction was something we felt would be successful in an App to encourage people to donate by realising how much they own and how much of that they actually wear.

Something else we considered was a postal service for donating to TRAID. We felt that people don't trust door-to-door bags, they can't always take a heavy bag of clothes to a recycling bin, and they want more options. We looked into Envirophone and Music Magpie and felt that by recreating this for TRAID people could be sent free-post materials, and easily send there clothes off to TRAID. As a group we really like this idea and feel it could amount to much more recycling for TRAID as no other charities use this method of donation.

We are all now going to brainstorm around these ideas and think about how they will work into the integrated campaign before we next meet.
